We regret to announce the death of Mr Allan Paul Radford Brook who served as Headmaster at The High School between 1971 and 1994. Mr Brook was educated at Midleton College, The High School, and Trinity College, Dublin where he was awarded a Sizarship and Foundation Scholarship in Mathematics. An accomplished hockey player he was awarded Colours at TCD and also represented Nottingham County during his playing career. He taught Mathematics at The High School, Henry Mellish Grammar School for Boys, Nottingham and Huish's Grammar School, Taunton before being appointed Headmaster at The High School.
We have reason to be thankful that Mr Brook chose to dedicate a significant proportion of his professional life to this institution where he is remembered as a principled leader of the highest integrity. We recall with gratitude the significant and substantial contribution he made to the development of the institution during his tenure including the incorporation of the Diocesan Secondary School for Girls. We remain grateful for his kind and caring example in engaging with the generations of staff, parents, and past pupils who mourn his loss to The High School community.
