Church of Ireland General Synod Board of Education
The governors, staff, parents, pupils, and past pupils of The High School, together with representatives from minority faith schools from across the country, will join His Excellency Dr Michael D Higgins, President of Ireland and Jan O'Sullivan, Minister for Education and Skills, at a service of Choral Evensong to mark the opening of the academic year at St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin on Thursday 25 September at 5.15 pm. The Church of Ireland General Synod Board of Education has reported that in excess of 450 pupils and 100 adults have already accepted its invitation to attend the service.
The sermon will be delivered by the Most Revd David Chillingworth, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church and Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane who was born in Dublin and ordained in Belfast. In addition, the service will be attended by the Most Revd Michael G St A Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough, Primate of Ireland and Metropolitan; the Rt Revd Michael A J Burrowes, Bishop of Cashel and Ossory; the Rt Revd Patrick W Rooke, Bishop of Tuam, Killala and Achonry; the Rt Rev Robert L Craig, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland; and the Revd Peter D Murray, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland. All are most welcome to attend.
