Guitar Lessons

Guitar lessons will be available for pupils of The High School in the Music Department from September. Those interested in enrolling should make contact with Ms Shaw in the Office or Ms Bourke in the Music Department.

Guitar lessons will be taught during school hours on a rotating basis so that teaching and learning of subject classes will not be compromised. The timetable will be flexible if pupils need to attend an important class. Individual lessons will be available for pupils ranging from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Those who wish to enter guitar examinations will be accommodated.  Preparation for theory examinations can be incorporated in to the lesson if requested. Pupils who wish to learn pop songs for fun are also welcome.

There are many advantages of this type of guitar lesson schedule. Pupils will not have to attend lessons elsewhere at the weekend or after school. School events, trips, and examinations will be taken in to consideration when organizing lessons and guitar practice, so the pupil will be fully supported at busy times of the year.  Pupils studying music for the Junior and Leaving Certificate practical can have guitar as their chosen instrument if they wish.  They can opt for group or individual lessons. Pupils usually opt for individual lessons if progress is a priority whereas in the group option it is much more about the social aspect of music, notably playing in a band, sharing ideas, and jamming.

Guitar lesson fees are additional to the school fees. Fees are charged at €140 for group lessons or €230 for individual lessons for a 12 week term. Lessons will be 40 minutes in duration. Lessons missed by pupils will not be refunded. In the unlikely event that the teacher cancels a class the lesson will be rescheduled.

If you have any queries regarding the above information, I would be delighted to discuss them with you.
