Prize Day & Parents' Evening
Prize Day and Parents' Evening will take
place this year on Wednesday 21 October at 8.00 p.m. (please be seated
by 7.50 p.m.). This year, the guest speaker will be Dr Aengus O'Marcaigh.
There will also be performances by a choir and by the orchestra.
Dr. Aengus O’Marcaigh is a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist at the
National Paediatric Haematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant
Centre at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin. Dr O'Marcaigh is
particularly well known for his research into childhood leukaemia and
many of you may have seen him on television in connection with this
work.
The parents of prize winners will receive a written invitation but other
parents and pupils are also welcome to attend. Supper is served
afterwards. Pupils attending must wear full winter uniform, including
tie and school jumper.
Model United Nations
On Saturday 26th September, 14 students
from The High School represented the UK and Libya at Terenure College
MUN where together with over 100 students from different schools they
debated topics ranging from underage criminality, the human effects on
the oceans and seas to the question of North Korea. High School were
outstanding in their committees and in general assembly. Well done to

Congratulations Seraphim!
Well done to Seraphim Dempsey (Form 5)
who was selected as part of the Rebelsa String Quartet to participate in
the Xenia Ensemble course in Italy during the summer. The group was
selected by the staff of Concorda, a national body to assist and promote
string playing in Ireland. They were supported by the Arts Council and
the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras. Seraphim is also an
accomplished pianist and is pictured here at the summer concert last
year.
Winter uniform
Please note that winter uniform must be
worn from Monday 19 October. Please arrange that you have a school tie,
a crested jumper and the correct long sleeved shirts in good time.
Student council
There will be a meeting of the council on
Wednesday 7 October in A 24 at 8.30 a.m. Would all members please
attend.

Results - well done
In rugby the Under 16 beat Castleknock 22-0 in the league. The Under 14
beat Newpark 24-22. The 1st SV beat De la Salle 47-21 and the 2nd XV
beat Newpark 5-3. In girls hockey, the Senior 1 beat Loreto Foxrock 1-0
in the league, the 1st year A beat Mt Anville 3-1 while the 1st Year B
also won 2-0. The 1st Year A drew 2-2 with St Andrew's, the Junior B
drew 2-2 with Mt Anville in the league and the Senior 3 beat Perth
Academy 1-0.
