High School website wins awardThe National Centre for Technology in Education selected our website as one of its star websites recently - a mark of distinction for websites which offer good quality content. Thanks to everybody who contributes to the main website and to the pupils' website - the award is yours!! Sticks and StonesLast week, 2G received an anti-bullying workshop from Una of the Sticks and Stones theatre company. The workshop was helpful and simple. We were taught about forms of bullying, bullies themselves and ways to stop bullying. We learned that there are five standard types of bullying - extortion, physical, verbal, exclusion and mental. One of the tricks used by bullies is to make the victim feel that it is their own fault that they are being bullied. Anyone can be bullied. If a victim tells a parent or a counsellor about the bullying it can make a huge difference. Remember, you are not a snitch or a rat - you are just another warrior in the fight against bullying. Telling someone about another person being bullied will help that victim if he/she hasn't the courage to fight back. The above account is extracted from one of the excellent accounts submitted by pupils who experienced the anti-bullying workshop. At High School, every student has the right to come to school and to be in school free of the fear of bullies. We are a telling school!!! If you are worried about being bullied or know of someone who is being bullied, you can tell your form teacher, year head, any teacher, the guidance counsellor, a prefect or a member of the office staff and they will see that the information is passed on to the correct people to help you. The whole thing will be treated sensitively and very carefully. Below: part of the Sticks and Stones presentation
