Form 6 biology field tripOn Thursday 23 September Mr Gill's Form 6 biology class went on an ecology field trip to the rocky seashore at Sandycove. Our aim was to conduct an analysis of the animals and plants that live there in order to find out how they interact with each other and with their local environment. As well as identifying 12 different species of seaweed, we also found limpets, shrimps, crabs, cushion starfish and sponges. However, for most of the class, the highlight of the trip was a stop at Teddy's for a 99 on the way home!
Music success!Congratulations to the pupils pictured below on their very good results in the recent Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music theory exams:
Simon Community fun runWe have a High School team running to raise money for the homeless at the weekend. Mr McClure, in A4, still has entry and sponsorship forms for anyone over 14 who would like to join the group. FireworksAs explosive substances, fireworks (including bangers) are dangerous, illegal and can cause serious injury. Having anything to do with fireworks on the school premises (including possessing them) can lead to suspension from school. We ask for your cooperation. Eat well and do better in examsDid you know that what you eat and drink affects your learning, exam marks and behaviour - proven research? The ones to reduce are caffeine (coffee, tea, Coke), animal fats and sugar (cakes, pastries, biscuits) while the ones to increase are fresh fruit, vegetables and wholegrain cereals (porridge, brown bread, brown pasta). Chicken and fish are good proteins. Reduce - not cut out! Paper recycling boxesBoxes for waste paper have been distributed to each of the classrooms by the pupils involved in Green Schools. This is a step to improve the recycling in the school and we hope all pupils will cooperate to help the environment.
