1st XI defeat Beaufort in cupTo be drawn against such a strong team in the first round of the senior cup was unfortunate but the 1st XI was determined to do well. The game started slowly but we soon found our feet and started to dominate. Eventually, with five minutes to go, Julie McRann stepped up and scored a cracker in the bottom left corner. Our victory was sealed but not before several injuries on both teams including the Beaufort star player who is now on crutches! We will meet St Andrew's in the second round on Thursday. This is a very difficult match and the team would very much appreciate your support. Tickets for the buses to the match will be on sale on Tuesday and Wednesday at break and lunch from Ms Ritchie in B8. L. Watson

Rugby JCT marches onThe JCT has played two matches in the Junior Cup recently, defeating CUS by three points to nil and St Patrick's Navan by eight points to nil. In the CUS match, the conditions were difficult with a very strong cross wind. The sides were quite well matched and after 13 minutes David Wilson almost scored a try but was brought down just before the line. In the end the only score was Alan O'Keefe's penalty just before half time. The match had a dramatic finish, however, with CUS awarded a penalty in the last minute. Fortunately for us, they missed! The JCT scored a try towards the end of the first half in the St Patrick's match, with Robbie Rath taking a pass from scrum half Jonny Sargeant and then ripping around the outside of the cover for a superb score. The skills training put in by the High School pack held St Patrick's for the rest of the match and Alan O'Keefe added to the score with a difficult 30 metre penalty half way through the second half. Below: a superb catch in a lineout against CUS at Templeville Road
