Try, try, try again!

Last Monday, the senior rugby team convincingly defeated Mount Temple in the cup by 27 points to 6 to progress to an encounter with Clongowes which will take place on Thursday 1 February at Naas RFC (directions on our website) at 2.30 p.m. (not as notified in the newsletter last week). School will close early provided a sufficient number of supporters sign up to attend.
The first try came from Robbie Rath after a determined dash down the left wing. Darragh Keller's important try at the end of the first half was a significant point in the game, leaving High School in a strong position for the second half.
The forwards dominated the second half, winning good quality possession and setting up three other tries from Nigel Kinlan, Robbie Rath again and Conor O'Donnell. Well done to the team and coaches! (More photos on the website)

Sailing championships

On Saturday, High School entered a team of six students, Annalise Murphy, Amy Hughes, Alice Wyse Jackson, Darragh Sweetnam, Finn Murphy and Ferdia O’Brien, in the ISA Leinster Schools Team Racing Championship. There were fourteen different schools competing, racing in Rs Feva’s and Fireflys provided by the organisers of the event.
Racing was inside Dun Laoghaire Harbour where we raced six other schools in our section in hope of getting through to the finals and hence the All-Irelands. We won five out of six races which put us through to the semi-finals. Lack of time and light meant that there could be no semis or finals and so results were based on league standing. We finished second overall and we are looking forward to going on to compete in the All-Irelands in April. We all had a great day and were entertained by a few capsizes by certain team members!
