Prefects
We congratulate the Prefects (above) on
their election by the pupils of Form 6 and the staff. The prefects are
responsible for many duties which assist the smooth running of the
school and all pupils are expected to cooperate with requests made by
prefects. Prefects are also there to help other pupils, especially those
new to the school.

Head Boy and Head Girl

Congratulations to Jack and Olwen who
have been appointed as
Head Boy and Head Girl.
Welcome back!
During the summer Mr O’Hanlon, Ms Fox, Ms
Browne and Ms McKevitt resigned, Ms Toolan and Ms Reilly applied to take
leave. We wish them all well. One resignation was only a few days before
term opened so unfortunately we are short of one Irish teacher at the
moment but hope to fill that vacancy shortly. Ms McPhilips, supervisor,
has also resigned and we will be recruiting someone to replace her
shortly.
We welcome the following new staff - Mr Levis, PE, Geography, games; Ms
Goulding, Biology, Science, Home Economics; Ms Wilson, Geography; Mr
Carolan, Maths; Mr Farrell, Economics, Business (substituting for Mr
Sheridan who is ill); Ms Rugg, French; Ms Kelly, History, Classical
Studies. We also welcome back after breaks – Ms Bergin, Mr Miller, Ms
Missen, Ms Galligan.
A great deal of work has been completed during the summer. The fifth
laboratory has been rebuilt completing the refurbishment programme of
all laboratories. 22 of the classrooms have been redecorated. Those on
the C floor which were not done due to the dust and mess from the work
on the laboratory, will be decorated next summer. General painting and
maintenance of corridors changing rooms, lockers etc has also taken
place.
CCTV for the better protection of staff and pupils has been provided by
the Board throughout the remainder of the B and C floor corridors.
Replacement of existing fire doors in corridors, installation of fire
doors on all storage areas and new fire doors in the front hall area
have been installed to conform to safety requirements. Ongoing renewal
of desks and chairs, window blinds, white boards, pin boards etc, annual
maintenance of the hockey pitches have also taken place.
Planning permission has been applied for to replace two hockey pitches
with new astroturfs and it is hoped that this work will be completed
next summer. There were no objections to the application.
Supervisor required
Applications should be submitted in
writing as soon as possible to the Deputy Principal, with full CV and
the names, addresses and telephone numbers of two referees. Duties
involve corridor and grounds supervision, and occasional class
supervision.
