SCT cup match

Having beaten Roscrea, the Senior XV lost what proved to be a very close game vs CUS. It was a bad start for the HighSchool as the CUS kicker slotted two penalties earning them 6 points. Ciaran Collins hit the ball over to make it 6-3. At half time the score was 9-3 and still anyone’s game.
In spite of several line breaks, excellent handling and a try from Shane Webb, the team fell short by 4 points. CUS must have been relieved at the sound of the final whistle as HighSchool were piling on the pressure.

JCT cup match

Last Thursday, the JCT went out of the cup after a hard fought battle with Wesley College, on a scoreline of 15-12. The match was played on the new all weather pitch in UCD and the team got off to a great start when our speedy winger, Conor Sexton, intercepted a pass and scored in the corner after just five minutes. This was followed by another try scored by flanker Neil Cosgrave, who carried three of the Wesley team over with him. Luke O'Donnell slotted over a superb conversion to cement a 12-0 lead. Unfortunately that was the last score for us and even though the team gave their all, it was just not enough on the day. On behalf of the team and the other coaches I would like to thank all the staff and students for their support on the day. B. McNamara

Quiz team runners up

On Saturday 17 January we took part in the National Electronic and Engineering Quiz. Jack Kelly, Robbie O'Brien, Joan Somers Donnelly and myself met in DIT that afternoon. After eight rounds of questions in maths, physics and general knowledge we were joint first. Unfortunately we lost the tiebreaker but we won digital cameras for second place. Thanks to Mr Kelly for organising the team.

Library Barnardos collection

A massive thank you to everyone who donated to the Feed the Pig fund. The great total of €260 will go towards Barnardos, an amazing charity which helps children all over Ireland. As you can see, every little truly did help, so save all your loose change for next year! Thanks again to all who donated.  Zoe Dolan
