Irish Times writing competition
Congratulations to Seraphim Dempsey who
won second place in the Irish Times / Amnesty International Writing
Competition to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of

Model United Nations
On Saturday 21st March 14 students from
The High School took part in the Wesley College Dublin Model United
Nations. A one day event WCDMUN saw students debating issues such as the
Middle East Peace Process, Torture, Euthanasia and the Global Financial
Crises. Two High School delegates, Aoife Kearney and Emma Hogg, walked
away with highly commended delegates awards. Well done to all who took
part.
Public service industrial action - school closure
Notice has been served on all schools of
a day of strike action by the ASTI, the TUI and the INTO as part of a
general strike day by the public service unions. As a consequence, the
school will be unable to open, for one day, on Monday 30 March 2009. If
this situation changes due to national discussions, we will notify
parents by text message.
State examinations are designated as essential services and the State
Examinations Commission has put in place contingency arrangements to
deal with examinations scheduled for that day
Parents' Association talk
The association has organised a talk by
Dr Vincent Moloney on "Rearing teenagers - the 10 golden rules" on
Thursday March 26th at 8.00 p.m. in the Reynolds Hall. All parents and
staff are cordially invited to attend.
Habitat Bring and Buy Book Sale
There will be a bring and buy book sale
in aid of Habitat for Humanity on Saturday 28 march from 10.00 a.m. to
3.00 p.m. in the Church of Ireland Parish Centre, Rathfarnham Village.
Teas and coffees will be available at €2. Donate your old books and buy
ours! Very reasonable prices!! If you need any further information,

Summer uniform
Please note that summer uniform will
commence on the first day of the summer term. Polo shirts must be worn
(they may be tucked in or not as you wish), the tie is not worn and the
school jumper is optional. Coloured t-shirts may not be worn under polo
shirts.
Andrew McKay tournament
Congratulations to the team captained by
James Barber which won the Andrew McKay memorial hockey tournament last
week. The members of the team were Olwyn Smith, Fiadh Gregg, Evie
McCullough, Kate Barlow, David Howard and Sam Treacy McGee.
Girls tennis
There will be tennis trials on Wednesday
for anyone interested in being on a team, from 1.45 p.m. to 3.15 p.m.
