Visit of Latin School of Chicago and US Ambassador

We were pleased to welcome approximately 120 visitors from the Latin School of Chicago recently. The band and chorus of the school is on a short tour of four Irish schools. They performed a range of mainly modern American classics to a packed Reynolds Hall. Gifts to mark the visit were exchanged between the schools at the end of a wonderful performance under the direction of Mike Teolis and Matt Dix, band and chorus masters respectively. (The fringe festival music and rap by students from both sides of the Atlantic was also hugely enjoyed!)

The Ambassador of the United States of America to Ireland, Mr James Kenny, honoured us with a visit on the same occasion so that he could hear the visitors who are from his home town. The Ambassador mixed freely with the staff and students of both schools.

Young Entrepreneur

Congratulations to Daragh Walsh who has won this year's YES competition in the school. His company "The Cookie Shop" was judged best in a closely fought contest, gaining more points than some other excellent entries.

Daragh wins the Andrew McKay memorial prize and a very generous voucher donated by AIB Rathgar. He also represented the school in the Dublin finals of the YES, run by the Dublin City Enterprise Board.

Well done to all those who participated this year. Setting up and running a small business is a very good learning experience. Thanks are also due to our judges Ms McKay, Ms Vard and Ms McColgan (AIB Rathgar) for taking the time and effort to judge and interview all the companies involved.

Rugby SCT reach the Plate final

Well done to the SCT rugby team who have reached the final of the Plate competition after defeating Wesley College 20-12. Tries from Ben Leonard-Kane and Niall McDarby sealed this victory last week. They will now face St Mary's College in the final on Monday 29th March at Donnybrook at 4.30 p.m. Good luck! (Photo below: Ben Leonard -Kane with James Anglim in the background.)
