Brightening up our lives - thanks!

Well done to Robert, Harry and John who have completed this magnificent 8ft by 4ft panel in the 6V Art class with Ms Killane. The medium is acrylic and the panel is MDF. See it in colour on our website or in real life on the wall at the corner of the B corridor.

The Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 10 October at 8.00 p.m. The Principal will attend the beginning of this meeting for a question and answer session on school policies.

Simon Community fun run challenge!

The Simon Community is an organisation which works with homeless people in Dublin. Each year they hold a fun run to raise funds to help provide the services they offer, e.g. food, shelter, employment, health care etc. We are entering a school team again this year and anyone who is interested should see Mr McClure in A4 and collect an entry form (cost €5), before Friday 30 September. The fun run is held in Phoenix Park on Sunday 9 October at 2.30 p.m. Last year we raised €1,800 and this year we have set ourselves a target of €2,000. Will you help us do this by entering and collecting sponsorship money? Thank you.

Uniform

In the interests of the school and its pupils, students are expected to wear full uniform to school, in school and on the way home. Uniform must be worn neatly. This includes shirt tucked into skirt or trousers, tie at least as high as the first button hole from the top of the collar and the knot fully visible when wearing a sweater, cuff buttons closed, etc. Students may be given a uniform violation or sent home for contravention. Two violations in a year will result in a detention.

National swimming champions

Congratulations to High School swimmers Hannah Lunn, Charlotte Leonard-Kane, (ESB SC), Danny Finn and Laura Martin (Templeogue SC) who competed in several national swimming championships during the summer. In Limerick, Hannah won the silver medal in the Division 2 U15 100 Breast Stroke. Charlotte is the Division 1 national U15 200 backstroke champion and silver medallist in the U15 100 backstroke. At the National Open championships in Lisburn, she also won silver in the Junior 200 backstroke, bronze in the Senior 200 backstroke, bronze in the Junior 50 backstroke and silver in the Senior 400 medley relay where she swam the backstroke leg.

Form 1 canoeing

This will take place on Saturday mornings 8.45 - 10.00 for the remainder of the term unless posted otherwise on the door of T3. Pupils must sign the list every week if they intend to participate, as places are limited.

Public speaking competition

There will be a public speaking competition in B7 on Thursday 29 September in order to select the team which will represent the school in an upcoming competition. All welcome!
