Senior 1st girls hockey quarter final win

Enduring cold and wet conditions we managed to beat Rathdown 6-1 in the quarter-final of the Plate on Tuesday.
The match started well with an early goal from Aimee Jones 0’Connor giving us a lead. But soon after, Rathdown gained possession and broke through the centre resulting in a goal, bringing the score to 1-1. A tense few minutes followed where our goalie Eve Roseingrave came between them and another goal. But we settled down with a goal from Susan McRann and went into the break with a one goal lead.
After a focused talk at half-time we emerged in the second half with a winning attitude. Taking control from the beginning we dominated the play and held possession for long periods, resulting in four more goals from Jessie Meeke, Sarah McCoy and Kate Barlow. Satisfied we had a comfortable lead we turned to a passing game, and finished with a final score of 6-1.
We travelled home soggy and cold but in high spirits and are now looking forward to playing Loreto Dalkey in the semi-final.  Katie O’Brien
