Congratulations to the winners this year
- Miles Reilly, Josh Purcell, Jessica Patterson, Conor Sexton, Sophie
Wann and Amy Lyons. The degree of talent this year was quite exceptional
and well done to all who entered. The winning paintings will are
featured in this and will also be in future newsletters,
and can be seen here. Prize winning
works become the property of the school, are framed and hung permanently
in the school.
The paintings on the

art awards winners 2009 and were painted by
(left) Miles Reilly, Form 6 and Conor
Sexton, completed when he was in Form 3.
Science week in the library
Once again a great science week has been
successfully celebrated at the library. Old faithfuls like the plasma
ball and the floating globe were welcomed back and there were floods of
entries to the many quizzes. Thanks to Cian Butler, science week Ireland
sent us hundreds of bags, bookmarks and biros. Thanks to all the
teachers who brought their classes to the library and to Mr Gill for his
excellent and most interesting lectures. A final thanks to Mrs King and
the library committee for organising the week.

Guide dogs for the blind
Guide dog cards are being sold again this
year at a bargain half price!! They cost €2 or €3 for a pack of eight
lovely cards, depending on the design and are being sold at junior and
senior lunch. Please support this very worthy cause. (Go on - send a
cuddly puppy to your loved ones!)
Strike Day - Thursday 3 December
The school has been notified of another
day of industrial action by the ASTI on Thursday 3 December which will
result in the closure of the school. If this strike is cancelled the
school will be open normally. The Board regrets this closure and wishes
to provide normal educational service on that day but is unable to
provide a safe environment for students in the absence of most of the
teaching staff and special needs assistants.
Christmas food collection.
4th year will be organising a food
collection for distribution to people in need in the local community. We
need tins, dried goods, things in packets, biscuts and nothing that will
go off. The collection will start on Monday, 7th of December.
Contributions should be brought to the entrance hall and placed under
the Christmas tree before school each day.
