Senior boys hockey team reaches cup semi-final
A fine display from the senior boys hockey team saw
them beat John Scottus School in an exciting quarter final match of the
Leinster Senior Cup Competition. A tight first half was just edged by
High School with a goal from Andy Gray from a short corner. Some great
saves from Garreth Carragher kept us in the lead until midway through
the second half when John Scottus scored a deserved equaliser. The match
went to extra time and was won in the end by a drag flick to the top
corner by Josh Purcell. Well done to all the squad and good luck in the
semi final against Dundalk Grammar School on Wednesday 20 February at
3.00 p.m. in Dundalk.

Parents' Association speaker
The association has invited John Lonergan, Governor
of Mountjoy Prison, to present a paper entitled "Parenting - the
challenges and the rewards" on Monday 25 February 2008 at 8.00 p.m. in
the Reynolds Hall. All parents and staff are cordinally invited.
Refreshments will be served during the evening.
Mr Lonergan is convinced that the task for all of us
is, first of all to find the humanity in another human being and then to
nurture it The more a person becomes aware of their own humanity the
more likely they are to treat others with respect. He argues that there
is a direct link between crime and social and economic deprivation and
believes that the task for all of us is not the economy but how we are
going to create a just, inclusive and cohesive society based on the core
values of justice, equality, fairness and compassion. |
