Our class (3T) walked towards the library, for English class, unaware of the surprise we were in for. Many people read different types of poems but one of the funniest was by Fionnan and Barry with a class poem describing everyone in the class! Ellen O'Cleirigh, Sarah Corbin and Ruth McCauley all won prizes for writing and reading their brilliant poems! All in all, it showed some of the up and coming talent in poetry. It was all good fun. Ed Butler (3T) Maths OlympiadCongratulations to Beth Kelly who has been selected for training for the International Maths Olympiad, which is a very prestigious annual competition for mathematically gifted teams of pre-university students representing their countries. Best of luck Beth! ScholarshipCongratulations to Christopher Harding who has been awarded a scholarship in UCD based on his Leaving Certificate results. Healthy cornerWe all need exercise to make us feel better, reduce weight, reduce stress and later in life control blood pressure. Exercise habits are formed during the teenage years. If you are not exercising regularly, what's your excuse? "No time, I'm far too busy" - just 30 minutes on most days of the week can make a real difference and it only needs to be fast walking! Use the stairs instead of lifts in shops, cycle instead of being driven. "Not the sporty type" - you don't have to be! Walking, gardening, housework, dancing can be just as good for you as football or working out in a gym. It all depends on putting enough effort in to warm yourself up and begin perspiring.
