Junior girls plate victory
After winning our semi-final against
Loreto Dalkey 7-2 we were determined to put up as good a fight in the
Plate Final against Loreto Beaufort.
The match started well with both teams standing their ground. For the
most part of the first half we were the dominating team. But with
excellent defence on the Beaufort side we went into the break nil all.
With a very focused half time talk from Ms Jones, we walked on to the
pitch for the second-half, determined to come out on top. (continued
over the page)
As soon as the whistle blew we began to take control of the game. After
some awesome passing from our attackers we had our first short corner,
which unfortunately was saved. But after that short corner another
followed, and from the amazing team work of Jessie Meeke, Niamh Moran,
Kate Barlow and Evie McCullough we gained a one-nil lead. But Beaufort
were not giving up. The remainder of the match was thoroughly exciting,
with attack after attack from the Beaufort team, but our defence
remained strong and held firm. We finished the match as winners!!
We would like to thank Ms Jones for all of her hard work and dedication
throughout the season. Thanks also must go to our amazing captain Jessie
Meeke for all her encouragement during the year. It is a fantastic end
to what has been a great season. Well done everyone!

Minor girls win the plate
The Minor A Girls won their Plate Final
against Muckross in dramatic style, 4-3 on penalty strokes! It was a
very cagey game with good chances at both ends. Either side could have
won it in normal time prior to strokes, with Saoirse O’Donoghue and
Laura Rankin coming closest to breaking the deadlock. 0-0 it finished
after extra time and so to strokes!
We were locked at 3-3 with Muckross only needing to score their last
stroke to win the Plate, but Emer Brennan saved it! Muckross then missed
their first sudden death stroke, leaving Saoirse the chance to win the
Plate for High School, which she duly took!
Retaining the Plate from last year is quite a feat! I would like to take
this opportunity to congratulate all of the squad on their success and
thank Ms A Rugg for taking care of the team in my absence.
