Leinster cup winners- well done Junior A!

Congratulations to the Junior A girls hockey team who have won the Leinster Cup competition for the second year running, and to the team coaches Mr P. Fitzpatrick, Mrs G. Mellon and Ms C. Ritchie. This was a tough match against Loreto Beaufort but also full of excitement on a lovely sunny day at Grange Road. The first half had attacks by both sides but was scoreless. At the beginning of the second half, Nicci Daly scored what turned out to be the winning goal from a penalty corner. Incredibly strong defence was then needed in the second half with about 12 corners to be defended, but the team provided it and held out for a 1-0 victory. We are proud of you!!!!

Minor C win the league

Last Tuesday afternoon the Minor C team played their final in the league at Three Rock hockey pitch against St Raphaela's Minor A. It was a difficult match with a lot of good defending from both teams and unlucky shots at goal. Eventually it went to extra time and both teams were determined to score. However, neither did so it went to penalty strokes. We were very nervous but our goalie, Sophie Madigan, pulled off some great saves. We scored three penalties and the match was ours. We were so happy because we trained hard all year. Thank you to Mrs Mellon for coaching us and supporting us throughout the competition.

Global community projects 2004 - Aquaboxes

Aquaboxes are large plastic crates that contain water purification tablets. Schools participating in the project are asked to collect a range of additional useful items ranging from clothes to tools (see list below) which are added to the box before it is shipped to refugee camps around the world.

What will the Aqua Box Team have to do?

The High School team will arrange to publicise and coiled items for Aqua Boxes within this school. The team will also investigate the possibility of sourcing items from local National Schools, clubs, churches etc.

Who can take part?

Any Transition Year student can apply to be a part of the team. Successful applicants will be required to work on their own and as part of a team. They will be hard working reliable and trustworthy.

There will be a meeting this Friday 19th March in B8 at 1.30 pm for all those who are interested in being part of the Aquabox team.

Further Information will be available at Friday’s meeting or from Miss Ritchie in B8.
