Mock interview evening
The fifth year mock interviews were held
in the school recently. These interviews are organised annually by the
Careers teachers in the school and the Parents Association. The
interviews are carried out at the end of a job application module which
is part of the 5th year careers programme.
Over 100 fifth years took part. The feedback from the interviewers was
very positive this year. Some of the comments from students after the
experience include:
"I was a bit nervous at first but the two people interviewing me were
very nice, so that helped. They didn't ask any awkward questions."
"They told me the layout of my CV was good and that it was focused and
clear. I would advise people to research their topic, make an effort in
your CV and cover letter and dress appropriately."
"The interviewers were very friendly and made me feel really comfortable
although I was really nervous, and they did comment that I need to relax
more. It's very important to not let the nerves get to you as you need
to appear confident."
"I wore a shirt, tie, formal trousers and black shoes. On my report they
commented on my appearance and said it was appropriate for an
interview."
Thanks to everybody who gave up their time to arrange and conduct these
interviews.
Summer concert
The annual concert will take place on
Thursday 21st May at 8pm in the Reynolds Hall. Choir, orchestra and
soloists will perform in a variety of musical styles. All are welcome -
this is always a superb evening of entertainment!
Daffodil Day
Between Friday 23 March and Monday 30
March, the Library Committee was frantically selling daffodils to raise
money for the Irish Cancer Society. After a lot of persuasion and
persistence we raised the massive sum of €670.34, an all time high for
this collection in this school. Thanks to everyone who bought a daffodil
or a pin and especially to those who gave up their lunch time to sell
the daffodils.
