Would you like to go to Taiwan all expenses paid?

In the first week of December the High School will have the honour of representing Ireland at the International High School Youth Culture Conference to be held in Taiwan. One school has been selected from each of seven countries to participate in this amazing opportunity, hosted by Chang Hua High School (2874 students) as part of its series of globalisation conferences, supported by the Department of Education (Taiwan) and sponsored by Acer and Asus Computers. The conference will be addressed by the Taiwanese Minister for Education, the founder of Acer Computers and a Nobel prize winner in Chemistry. English is the conference language.

Three students from our school will be selected to present papers on "the Brand of Ireland", including the commercial brands of the country, Irish culture, education and social life. These three students will fly to Taiwan, accompanied by Mr C. Flynn, where they will present their papers at the conference and will be given a chance to see the beautiful sights the country has to offer, as well as the unique opportunity to interact with other students from around the world. Students interested in entering must write a 500 word essay on "The Brand of Ireland" to be handed to Mr Flynn on or before Monday 24 September and must be aged either 16 or 17. The three students who win the essay competition will attend the conference. There will be a meeting for anybody interested in this conference in B4 on Thursday 13 September at 1.30 p.m.
