Aidan Walsh - champion runner

Aidan Walsh had a distinguished athletics career to his credit while a pupil at The High School, winning Leinster and Irish titles.   He represented Ireland at the FISEC games in Malta, winning gold in both the 1500m and the 1500m steeplechase.  He was part of the Irish relay team which won silver in the 4x400m relay.

John Gormley congratulates pupils on Green projects

John Gormley of the Green Party visited the school during his period as Mayor of Dublin.  He congratulated the pupils on their environmental projects.  Among those he discussed were:

• A project completed by Christopher Swift, Colin Walsh and Ian Ellis which was runner up in the Young Scientists' Exhibition, examining the levels of radon gas in caves in Ireland.

• Yvonne Maher and Susanna Coghlan's European Action on the Environment project.

• Erica McKerrow and Derek Nicholson's study of the effects of air pollution on historic buildings in Dublin city.
