Oliver Nash, while a pupil at The High School,
attained the astounding achievement of being chosen for TWO of the international
olympiad teams to represent Ireland abroad in the same year. As far as we know, this is
unprecedented in Ireland.
Oliver was one of 6 students chosen from the 26
counties to represent Ireland in the Maths Olympiad in Taiwan.
He was also one of 4 students chosen from the whole
32 counties of Ireland for the international Physics Olympiad which took place in Iceland.
His selection for this team was particularly noteworthy as he had to compete against
students from Northern Ireland where the A level system would give them a significant
advantage.
Oliver was taught Physics by Mr Richard Davies and
Mathematics by Ms Patricia Saville.
