Major web design competition win

Congratulations to a group of fourth year students who recently won first prize in the General Practice Information Technology (GPIT) National Web Design Competition. The objective was to design a web site dealing with teenage health matters.

The website entitled "Teen Health" contains articles on issues such as drug use, smoking, skin problems etc. It also includes an interactive element in the form of online quizzes and games based on health issues. The project was completed over a two month period by the students who showed much talent and commitment throughout. The prizes of a laptop computer for the school and an iPod for each of the students were awarded at a prize giving ceremony on Wednesday 26 May. Each iPod is worth about €450 and with the laptop the total prize value is about €3,800. Well done to the pupils concerned and to Ms M. Hearne, the member of staff who co-ordinated the project!
