Time Twist

A Great Wizard, An Evil Prince, A Good Witch and an Evil Witch, two beautiful twin princesses who have been tricked out of their rightful place and banished into a time warp, all made for an enchanting production of the classic battle between good and evil written and directed by Leslie Lalor and performed by the members of the Junior Drama Club. The clever plot allowed the comically impossible meeting of colourful characters like the dashing Zorro and heroic Grainne O’Malley, King Arthur (Monty Python style) and an exotic Cleopatra. A delightful set design by Florence Bradish (who also played the Good Witch), colourful costumes and some stunningly performed musical numbers added to our enjoyment. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the show’s success.

5th year English trip to London

On 25 April 19 tired 5th years met Ms.Missen and Ms.Fitzgerald in Dublin Airport at 6.30am to begin our day trip to London. We were going on this adventure to see the play ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ by Brian Friel which we are studying for our Leaving Cert, comparative study.
After a plane and train journey we were let out on the streets of London! We walked through Westminster to the Thames, stopping to refuel at Subway. We then continued a long walk through the city and along the river where we got to see many sites such as the Gherkin, the OXO tower and the London eye.
Then we arrived at the Tate modern art museum, where we split up to look around the huge building, we saw many interesting exhibitions although we all agreed we would need two weeks to see everything there!
Next we walked to the Old Vic theatre to see our play. It is a beautiful old building and the stage was set up ‘in the round’ creating a challenge for the actors! It was an excellent production and we all came out of the theatre with a new enthusiasm for the play. It was exciting to see Andrea Corr in her stage debut and Simon Bird from TV show The Inbetweeners in the audience.
At last we got the tube, train and plane back to Dublin! It was a wonderful trip, enjoyed by everyone and the class would like to thank Ms.Missen for organising it and Ms.Missen and Ms.Fitzgerald for bringing us.

Leinster swimming

Dayna Clegg and Ann-Marie Finn were part of the 26 strong Leinster swimming squad that competed in the May open swimming meet in Coventry last weekend. Chosen in the top 4 of their Irish age group in Leinster both girls competed in 8 events over the 2 days. Dayna achieved 2nd place over-all in the 13 yr age group and Ann- Marie achieved 12th place in the 14-18 yr old age group. This was a great achievement for both individually and as a part of the Leinster team which took first place as the team with the highest overall scores. Well done.
