Minor A win Plate!
Well done to the members of the Minor A
girls hockey team who beat Our Lady's Terenure 1-0 in the final of the
Minor Plate Competition last week, and to their coach Mr A Levis.
Form 2 outdoor education trip
Last Tuesday second year went to an
adventure centre in Clogherhead, Co Louth. When we arrived we were split
into groups to participate in different activities like surfing, pier
jumping, team building and orienteering. The weather was good up to the
second half of the day but everyone really enjoyed themselves. Thanks to
all the PE teachers for organising the trip. (Photos

Senior boys hockey cup semi final
Last Monday the senior boys lost to a
strong Wesley side (which went on to win the cup) in the cup semi final.
The game was a very tight game for the first 20 minutes with the score
remaining 0 v 0. However two quick goals left High School trailing 2 v 0
at half time. The second half saw a more confident High School put some
real pressure on Wesley but yielded no goals. Wesley got a third on the
break before High School replied through Shane O'Donoughue. Some good
chances followed with James Barber shooting over the bar after some fine
play and good saves by the Wesley goal keeper from Niall Noonan and
Niall O’Leary.
This was an excellent performance from the boys to cap off a great
season. A big thank you from all the coaching staff for the effort and
commitment shown all season.
Cross Country All Ireland Finals
On Saturday 7 March Michael Treacy of 3R
represented the school in the All Ireland finals. Michael had qualified
for the finals after two terrific performances in the East Leinster
competition in which he came third and the Leinster finals when he came
in sixth. Competing at intermediate level meant that the race was 5km
and the course was tough with strong competition from the four
provinces. Michael did really well on the day finishing 19th in a field
of over 120. A group of supporters took the train with Michael to
Belfast and out to Jordanstown campus where the finals were held.
Michael did the school and himself proud to get so far and to run so
well on the day; he will be still running at Inter level next year and
with the commitment and ability he has shown this year will be someone
for everyone to look out for. Go Michael Go!
Daffodil Day
