Inter Schools Music Festival

At the festival on Saturday, the orchestra was placed second, having completed an excellent performance of a Porgy and Bess medley by Gershwin. Well done!

World Book Day

On Thursday 6 March we invited author and motivational speaker Judy May Murphy to the library to celebrate World Book Day. Judy May gave an inspirational talk on how you can achieve your wildest dreams and how she communicates this message through books. The message was warmly received by the students who were lucky enough to hear her. Thank you to Mrs King who organised the event.

An Chéad Bhliain san Ard Scoil

Sular thosaigh an chéad téarma bhí seans ag na daltaí sa chéad bhliain dul isteach agus féachaint timpeall na scoile. Ansin ar an gcéad lá bhuaileamar le cinnirí ón séú bliain a chabhraigh linn nuair a bhí ceist nó fadhb againn. Bhí gach duine saghas neirbhíseach mar bhí gach rud an-difriúil ón mbunscoil.
Bhí an chéad seachtain mall go leor. Bhí an lá scoile níos faide agus bhí gach duine tuirseach traochta ag deireadh na seachtaine ach bhí gach duine cairdiúil, cabhrach go háirithe na cinnirí agus tar éis tamaill chuamar i dtaithí ar an scoil.
Anois tá an chéad bhliain beagnach thart agus táimid ag tnúth go mór leis an dara bliain.

Lá fhéile Pádraig

Tá seachtain na gaeilge anseo anois agus beidh Lá Fhéile Pádraig againn an tseachtain seo chugainn. Maidir le scéal Naomh Padraig, an bhfuil sé fíor nó breagach? Tá crath na fírinne air gan dabht ach is cuma linn toisc gur lá lán le sport is spraoi é. Bíonn páráidí mór ar súil sna bailte, bíonn an craic sna tithe tabhairne agus bíonn bagún agus cabáiste le n-ithe ag muintin na hÉireann. Caitheann gach mac mathra seamróg, ní amháin in Éirinn ach ar fud an domhain. Tagann gach duine le chéile chun an teanga agus an culture gaelach a chur chun chinn agus bíonn lá saor ón scoil agus oíche gan obair bhaile againn, buíochas le Dia! Is aoibhinn le gach duine Lá Fhéile Pádraig agus baintear an taitneamh agus tairbhe as!

Junior boys hockey cup quarter final

Last Monday the Junior Boys played against a very good Wesley College team in the quarter final of the Cup. Despite a solid opening, Wesley’s strength showed through and we were a few goals down by half time. However, the High School team spirit became apparent in the second half as we held Wesley to only one more goal and scored one of our own - a great strike from a short corner by Stephen Reid. Great credit also to Matthew Holder in goal who made some great second half saves.

Soccer competitions

There will be a 6 a side tournament on Wednesday 18th March at 1.30 p.m. in aid of Habitat for Humanity. The sign up sheets are on the B corridor next to the PE office. All welcome!

Horse riding

Well done to Robert Savage who recently addressed the AGM of Festine Lente about his love of horse riding.

Buaiteoirí sa chraobh Bhaile Átha Cliath

An Déardaoin seo chaite d’imir an fhoireann U.14B, le Zoe Choy-O Byrne, Emma Murphy, Sara McQuaid agus Caroline Lahiff, sa chraobh Bhaile Átha Cliath in aghaidh Loreto Bray. Cluiche sár mhaith a bhí ann, an cluiche is fearr a bhí againn ar an mbóthar go dtí an craobh, agus bhuamar 4-2 sa deireadh. Bhí athás an domhain orainn tar éis é a chríochnú mar seo an chéad uair a bhuaigh an Ard Scoil aon rud sa bhadmantan. Ar an drochuair, chaill an fhoireann U.14A, le Chloe Deacon, Emma Lucas, Rachel McAuliffe agus Hannah Ridgeway sa chraobh ar an lá céanna, ach d’imir siad go han-mhaith. Caithfimid go léir buíochas a thabhairt don ár dtraenálaithe Mr. Flynn agus Ms. Thorp mar thug siad a lán comhairle dúinn tríd an chomórtais.
