Junior A hockey plate winners!

When the day finally came, nerves were high and we were all determined to win! The match started, and slowly we got into the game. With some excellent shots from our forwards and mid-fielders, and brilliant saves from our goalie, Eve Roseingrave, there still wasn’t any score at half-time.

We came back into the second half of the match even more determined, and finally we scored! It was from brilliant play, from passing up the line into the circle to win a short corner. The ball was pushed out to Susan McRann who took a shot and the ball was in the back of the net! We were delighted, but we had to keep our concentration – and with this came another goal! Scored by Kate Ó Marcaigh. The final score was 2-nil to High School.

On behalf of the team I would like to thank Ms Jones for coaching us this year, and to Mr Fitzpatrick and Ms Levis for all their help during the year. Well done to all the players – you were all amazing!! Maolíosa Nugent

Senior boys hockey Leinster cup final

Last Wednesday the senior boys hockey team played their final against Wesley. We had been training intensely for the weeks before the match and were all up for it on the day. The match started well with our defence holding strong under the continued attacks from Wesley. In the first half we made a few breaks but were unlucky not to score. Our goalkeeper Gareth Carragher made some great saves in this half until just before half time. Wesley got a lucky deflection which made the score 1-0 going into the break. After an inspirational half time talk from Mr Fitzpatrick we went out again with our heads held high, ready to win. The inclusion of our super sub James Barber just added to our enthusiasm with his blistering pace and keen eye for goal. Even with the amazing effort the whole team put in we conceded two goals in the dieing minutes of the game to finish 3-0. I would like to thank all of the fans who came to our match and our coaches Mr Wilkinson and Mr Fitzpatrick who helped us throughout the season. Richard Jones
