Sensational victory for JCT

The JCT rugby cup match against Wesley College just before half term was a very exciting encounter, with excellent attack and defence on both sides - an example of what is best in schools rugby. Having lost by about 40 points to Wesley at the beginning of the season, the JCT team knew they had their work cut out and decided to hit hard from the start. Alan O'Keefe's early penalty sent a signal that this would be no walk over for Wesley.

However, Wesley quickly retaliated with a converted try and we were 7-3 down for a very long period. During this time, exceptionally tenacious defence and superb tackling kept repeated Wesley attacks at bay.

Eventually, three minutes from the final whistle, a series of sustained running attacks by High School (HSD teams never give up!) forced an error in the Wesley defence and Nigel Kinlan immediately seized the opportunity to produce an exhilarating running try, leaving the final score at 8-7. Well done to the whole team!

The next round takes place on Wednesday afternoon at 3.00 p.m. at Stradbrook (Blackrock RFC). All support very welcome!
