Visit of Latin School of Chicago
and US Ambassador
We were pleased to welcome
approximately 120 visitors from the Latin School of Chicago recently. The band
and chorus of the school was on a tour of four Irish schools, accompanied
by a number of staff and parents as well as their Principal Frank Hogan. They
performed a range of mainly modern American classics to a packed Reynolds Hall.
Gifts to mark the visit were exchanged between the schools at the end of a
wonderful performance under the direction of Mike Teolis and Matt Dix, band and
chorus masters respectively. (The fringe festival music and rap by students from
both sides of the Atlantic was also hugely enjoyed!)
The Ambassador of the United
States of America to Ireland, Mr James Kenny, honoured us with a visit on the
same occasion so that he could hear the visitors who are from his home town. The
Ambassador mixed freely with the staff and students of both schools.
